TERRE HAUTE. Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Inflation continues to affect many household products including the price of meat.
Owner of Kroc’s Old School Butcher Shop Daren Krockenberger said meat prices rose as high as 50% at one point. He went on to say that the price of gloves even rose as high as 200%. However, Krockenberger explained that they’ve managed to adapt as the market changes.
“We’ve kind of adapted to it,” Krockenberger said. “We’ve actually been able to lower prices here in the last several weeks.”
Aside from meat, Krockenberger said that the price and availability of other supplies has also been an issue from time to time. He pointed out that the price of gloves skyrocketed.
“A case of gloves went up in price like 200% or 300%.,” Krockenberger said. “Stuff like that killed us.”
However, Krockenberger stressed the importance of his loyal customers. He said that his valued customers are vital for the business.
“If we didn’t have the loyal customers that we have, we wouldn’t have made it through here a few months ago,” Krockenberger said.
