Fire broke out this morning in a cocoa bean roaster at the Hershey plant in Robinson, IL. Firefighters from both Robinson and Oblong responded.
Workers evacuated the building. Fire officials say it took about 20 minutes to put out the blaze. It was contained to the roaster and did not damage the building. Fire crews remained on the scene for a couple of hours to monitor and mop-up.
Employees were able to return to their jobs in the afternoon. About 500 people work at the plant. They make a number of Hershey products, including Heath Toffee Bars.
