Gunman, driver behind bars after spring break robbery

News

A Florida gunman and driver are now behind bars after attempting to rob spring-breakers from Terre Haute, Ind.

Hours after the robbery, Fort Lauderdale police arrested Kevin Campbell, the driver in this misbegotten scheme. The gunman, Travis Jones, was arrested on March 26 after a traffic stop for driving with a suspended license. He is now being held with no bond on charges of robbery with a firearm.

The incident began in the early morning hours of March 24 at a gas station in Oakland Park, Fla. It was caught on surveillance video from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

The four spring-breakers, including Alex Wisbey of Terre Haute, were pumping gas into their vehicle when surveillance video shows a man approach them with a handgun. A struggle ensued, allowing the Terre Haute men to gain control of the weapon. The Campbell and Jones fled in a vehicle.
