TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A group of local people gathered in downtown Terre Haute Thursday afternoon to raise awareness about human trafficking.
Thursday is World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.
People like Lee Weir held up signs. He says he hopes they inspire more people to join in raising awareness about the issue.
“We just want to make sure that people understand that this is actually happening in America. It’s not just overseas. It’s happening in our backyard,” says Weir.
The group planned to walk toward the courthouse after gathering downtown.
