GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Emergency officials in Greene County are asking churches and other organizations to open as temporary cooling centers.
Roger Axe, Director of Greene County Emergency Management Agency, is requesting the cooling centers open Thursday through Saturday of this week.
In a news release, Axe says “We have several persons at risk especially the elderly and young that do not have air conditioning. Prolonged exposure to such excessive heat can be life threating.”
Any organization willing to provide a cooling center is asked to call Greene County EMA at 812-384-4012.
The North Shelter House at the Bloomfield Park will be open as a cooling center this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
