GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – The Greene County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a phone scam.
The sheriff’s office says unknown individuals are calling people, saying they’ve missed a court date. The caller provides a fake court assigned case number.
When the call recipient says they have no knowledge of the court matter, the caller then asks the person to provide personal information such as social security numbers, birthdates and addresses.
The sheriff’s office urges people not to give any information and says the Greene County Court system will not notify individuals if they have missed a court date.
The calls were made to the areas of Linton, Lyons and Solsberry.
