OWENSBURG, Ind., (WTWO/WAWV) — Sam Mitchell started his podcast, Autism Rocks and Rolls, in October.

He was diagnosed with Autism when he was four years old and he’s struggled with it his whole life.

He says he wants to inspire and educate others about overcoming the struggles that come with having Autism.

“My hope is to educate and enlighten people with Autism. You don’t have to struggle. You can overcome these obstacles,” said Sam.

After joining his school’s media club, his interest for podcasting grew.

On his podcast, Sam discusses topics that are important to him like friendship, family, and everyday life.

He wants others to realize they’re not alone.

“It’s therapeutic. You can talk about struggles in your life. You can share those struggles and those people can help you and it’s like you’re not the only one having a bad day,” said Mitchell.

Since October, Autism Rocks and Rolls has 516 downloads.

Gina Mitchell, Sam’s mother says it’s been a journey to watch him grow.

“When you kind of have this challenge and sometimes you have this wall and you have an obstacle, to see him go where he has gone it takes the worry off of you a little bit with his future. I’m just extremely proud of him,” said Ms. Mitchell.
