Gov. Rauner Visits Robinson

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner made a stop in Robinson on Wednesday afternoon.

He was greeted by some protestors, holding signs about the state’s budget stalemate.

There was a good turn-out of people ready to hear the Governor speak inside the Tuscany Grill.

The Republican’s time in office has been one of gridlock, as he’s butted heads with Democratic leaders.

As a result, Illinois has not passed a budget in almost two years.

“The only way to get balanced budgets is to get the economy growing faster than our government’s spending. We’ve got to grow more jobs and anything else, just raising taxes is duct-taping over a problem. That’s taping over a broken system. We’ll never keep balanced budgets unless we change, grow the economy faster and bring down government spending,” Governor Rauner told WTWO News.

The Governor announced his re-election bid on Tuesday.
