VINCENNES, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Two local firemen were appointed by Gov. Eric Holcomb to Indiana’s Board of Firefighting Personnel Standards & Education.
Those men are Tim Smith, fire chief at Vincennes Township Fire Department and Robert Lund, Deputy Chief at Riley Fire Department.
Those on the board evaluate firefighter training and certifications for firemen across the state.
Smith and other board members will serve on the board until October 2024.
Smith said he’s excited to lead and to ensure other firemen receive proper training and education.
“I’m very excited. It gives me an opportunity to lead and help promote firefighter training throughout the state of Indiana. I think it’s critical for the safety both firemen and the public to have the best trained firefighters possible. I look forward to this opportunity to serve.”
