Christians all over the world Friday recognized the crucifiction of Jesus Christ through special services.
The Sisters of Providence invited the public to a Good Friday Mass at the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
They read the Passions story from the Gospels, and then venerated the Wood of the Cross, followed by communion.
“The passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, while it happened many, many years ago, is still vital for our lives,” Sister Paula Damiano said. “So, what we hope is that through these observances, these holy days, it will call us to renew our commitment to bring new life to the world in which we live that really is so much in need of healing.”
A vigil will be held Saturday evening, and on Sunday, an Easter Mass will be held followed by brunch at The Woods.
