Good Food for a Good Cause

Folks lined the street at the Bethesda Gardens Thursday for a good meal and a good cause.

The organization held a special fundraiser dinner in honor of Officer Pitts.

For $5 folks could drive up and receive a pork chop dinner complete with a baked potato, green beans and a choice of dessert.

And on the way out they could also purchase a memorial t-shirt for $15.

Organizers planned for more than 600 attendees.

All the desserts were donated by local bakeries around the Valley.

Organizers say they felt this was their turn to show appreciation for the fallen hero by giving back to the community he served.

“We know how important he was to our community,” Heidi Weiss said. “We know the impact he has made and we love our community. We also know that he gave his life up supporting that community. We are a faith based organization that has been giving back for over 60 years and we are continuing to do that today.”

All money from this benefit went toward The Officer Rob Pitts Memorial Fund.

Folks can still donate to the memorial fund at any Fifth Third Bank location.

Also the Terre Haute Police Department is still selling Officer Pitts bracelets to collect money for his statue.

You can pick yours up Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Records Division at THPD headquarters. The bracelets are $2 a piece.
