Foursquare Church provides more than 200 Thanksgiving meals

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Foursquare Church in Terre Haute gave away more than 200 Thanksgiving meals Sunday during their annual Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway.

This year’s giveaway took place in a drive-thru format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Those without transportation were also allowed to walk up and receive a basket for their household.

Volunteers provided those in attendance with meat and other non-perishable food items.

Thomas Smith, Foursquare’s assistant minister, said it brings joy to his heart to be able to help others.

“Because of COVID-19 we can’t do it but they want to come through and hug you. If it wasn’t for us they probably wouldn’t have something for Thanksgiving. It doesn’t matter what it is they’re happy with whatever they get. It’s a feeling that unless you do it, you’ll never understand it,” he said.

The church plans to host another giveaway for Christmas.
