Former jail officer charged with official misconduct

PARKE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A former jail officer is facing charges, accused of stealing items and trafficking with inmates at the Parke County Jail.

The Parke County Jail began an internal investigation earlier this month over items missing from the commissary.

The jail turned the matter over on October 9 to Parke County Deputies for a criminal investigation.

The Parke County Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Cody Maston of Kingman, a jail officer at the time, had been stealing items of commissary for personal use and to traffic with inmates.

Deputies say this happened over a one week period and that the total value of the items was over $300.

Maston is facing charges of Official Misconduct and Trafficking with an Inmate.

He was released from the Parke County Jail after posting bond. His employment with the jail was also terminated.
