This time of year is often a time for giving.
And today members of two organizations joined forces at an event at the Clay County Fairgrounds to give for a good cause.
The point of the event was to ensure that local kids would have enough food to eat over their Christmas vacations.
The focus was also placed on mainly shelf-stable foods, to make sure it would last over the Christmas break period.
Close to 200 volunteers showed up for the event.
“I hope that our volunteers walk away today, just being able to have their heart warmed by being able to go out there and help others,” said Executive Branch Director at Clay County YMCA Nicole Fry.
A grant of $15,000 was provided by Duke Energy to help purchase the food.
