It’s anticipated to be the biggest Vigo County schools food drive yet and it’s a challenge that encourages the community to give back.
The canned food drive will go toward school children in need. Donations from the community will benefit a competition between the schools. Duke Energy also jumped on board… Pledging to match monetary donations dollar for dollar up to $25,000.
“We’ve encouraged community organization and businesses to get involved and we do have quite a bit on board already,” Jennifer Russell, Hoosier Prarie principal said.
“How much food is $25,000 that’s about 19 pallets of food, that’s a lot of food,” Rick Burger, manager of Fuke Energy said.
Elementary and middle school students who raise the most in the food drive will receive a pool party at the Aquatic Center. High schoolers will receive a pizza party. You can drop off canned good donations to the school of your choice or monetary donations to the school corporation up until the 21st.
