December is peak month of flu season

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has put out a notice that the nation’s flu activity is on the rise.

December is one of the peak activity months for the season, and health officials are urging everyone to get their flu shot.

Local pharmacist Alpesh Patel said he has double his stock of vaccinations because this years flu prediction was one of the worst in recent years.

Patel stated he didn’t understand why people refrain from getting it right away.

The flu shot really works if you get the right kind of strain, it’s very effective. A lot of people don’t believe in the flu shot, but the flu shot is very important to get.”

“People believe the vaccine gives them the flu,” said Patel, “but it’s just mild flu like symptoms that are a side effect of the vaccine.”
