TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Many athletes received new footwear Friday for Special Olympics Indiana’s Summer Games.
Finish Line held its third annual shoe giveaway at Olympic Town.
Store representatives say over 50% of the athletes are wearing the wrong shoe size. That’s why Finish Line stepped in to help these athletes get fitted with the right shoes.
It brings a lot of joy to all involved.
“I think we get more out of that joy and just knowing that what we’re doing, and what we’re running around and working out for, is really making a difference in helping people. You can’t put a price tag on that feeling that it gives you,” says Kara Fick, Senior Engagement Partner with the Finish Line Youth Foundation.
Finish Line had over 2,400 units of shoes for Friday’s giveaway.
