Fewer Arrests on New Year’s Eve

Fewer people got themselves into trouble this New Year’s Eve.

Terre Haute Police say last year, there were twelve arrests on New Year’s Eve, four of which were warrants and two were felonies.

This year, there were only six arrests. Four of those were for warrants and the other two were misdemeanors.

“We hope that people continue to make the right decision and that is, not drinking and driving, call if you need a ride, give your keys to somebody. There are all kinds of free rides that are offered nowadays. There is absolutely no excuse for drinking and driving nowadays, especially on a holiday, on New Year’s Eve, when all of these amenities are offered for free,” says Officer Ryan Adamson, the PIO with the Terre Haute Police Department.

Officer Adamson says the Terre Haute Police Department looks forward to working with the community in the new year.
