The sky is the limit for aviation students at Indiana State University.
FedEx presented Purple Runway Aviation Scholarships to 20 students on Wednesday.
The presentation is part of the FedEx Aviation Information Program.
Officials met with students and took part in classroom discussions.
The goal is to prepare the next generation of professionals in an industry that is in high demand.
“The pilot shortage is a major driving force for how we recruit some of our students for Indiana State. People see that there is opportunity for jobs that is unprecedented in the pilot industry. As a flight instructor, I see that drive in my students to get in and I feel the drive for myself,” says ISU senior and scholarship recipient Levi Nolan.
Wednesday’s presentations are part of a $500,000 commitment from FedEx Express to ISU. ISU is one of six institutions selected to participate in the scholarships program.
