A driving force at Terre Haute’s Salvation Army is taking on a new mission. Thursday afternoon, co-workers and community members gathered to bid farewell to Captains Gordon and Cindy Hoag.
There was a surprise party for the Hoag’s, who say their eight years serving the Wabash Valley have flown by.
“I just hope that we’ve been able to touch lives and make them better. I know that most of the time I feel more blessed in giving the help than those that receive it,” said Gordon Hoag.
Cindy Hoag added, “We are grateful because Terre Haute is one of the most giving communities that I’ve ever seen, and we’ve been blessed with volunteers that have been serious about volunteering and being there when we need them to be there, and that has been such a blessing.”
The Hoags are not going far for their next mission. They’re moving to Bloomington. Captains Ilona and Jason Schaal will be the new Terre Haute officers.
