The St. Benedict’s Community Festival is underway.  The two day annual event is very, very popular.

This is the 22nd year of the festival.  It features several bands, festival food, German food and plenty of drinks.  There are also kids games, Texas poker and casino games.  Plus, a grand prize raffle will provide 10 thousand dollars to a lucky winner.

The money generated by the event helps the church support a prison ministry and youth program,  In addition, the festival provides funding for a soup kitchen.

“Last month, we served a little over four thousand people and a lot of people don’t know exactly how many people we do feed out of the soup kitchen,” said Brian Kiefer, event co-chair.

The fun continues on Saturday, with three more bands, food and fun.  The hours are from 5 pm to midnight
