TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Dwayne French was leaving his home around 6 a.m. on August 21 with plans to later meet his wife at their new lake house just outside of Terre Haute.

His mother, Sandra French said she was shocked when she got the call that her son, “Frenchie,”had been attacked.

“I was thinking he has spilled hot water on him or something or had a grease fire. I had no idea that someone would jump him and kill him like that,” she said.

Dwayne worked as a mechanic and loved riding motorcycles with his brother, Jay Presnell, in his free time.

He also helped run meetings at Club Soda, a local rehab for those battling drug addictions.

“He was so good-hearted. He helped everybody. He’d go to Club Soda and help run meetings. He helped anybody. He’d take the shirt off his back for you,” Presnell said.

His family said he was loved by many.

“It wasn’t supposed to be this way,” Ms. French explained.

“Dwayne was loved by everyone in town. I mean everyone. There’s countless bikers, family and friends. People just loved him,” Presnell concluded.
