Families partner at local elementary school to take some STEM lessons home

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Families learned how to protect some precious cargo tonight in a STEM activity with Sugar Grove Elementary School.

The activity was to build protective gear around an egg and then drop it.

The goal of the STEM activity is to pair families with the school to develop the best education for students.

There were several informational sessions offered to families tonight leading up to the egg drop.

Kids could explore educational math and science computer games and parents learned how these skills could help at home.

“We’re offering an opportunity for families to come and learn about the resources that they can use digitally at home and learn some math games they can play and we’re giving out some free manipulatives so they can play math games at home to reinforce their skills,” Sugar Grove principal, Teresa Stuckey said.

Students kindergarten through fifth grade participated in the event.
