Families enjoy free event at Skate World

News

Lots of local kids in Vigo County started spring break on their skates!

Mental Health America of West Central Indiana invited kids and their parents to enjoy Skate World for free on Monday.

Mental Health America says it organizes free community events to provide positive mental health environments.

They also work to raise awareness about peer pressure, substance abuse, mental health and suicide.

Organizers say Monday’s event was all about letting families have fun.

“It’s spring break and we saw some kids not having those big, lavish vacations, so we just wanted to bring something that was absolutely free to all of our youth to come and have fun, and most importantly to be safe and drug free,” says Jase Allsup with Mental Health America of West Central Indiana.

The organization will host another free event at Skate World on Tuesday, March 26, from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M.
