VIGO Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Families enjoyed some warm weather and more maple syrup at Prairie Creek Park’s Maple Sugarin’ Days scavenger hunt.
Those who took part in the challenge followed a map, looking for clues along different trails.
The families were able to learn about maple syrup making and had the chance to win a free quart of maple syrup of their own, along with other prizes.
Staff with the Vigo County Parks Department said they’re glad the community can enjoy Prairie Creek Park, which they call a ‘hidden gem’.
“I am so excited with the turnout today. I find maple syrup production absolutely fascinating and getting to share this with the community means so much to me and to our department,” said Laura Maloney with the Vigo County Parks Department.
This is the second year for the scavenger hunt.
It is also one of the last days for maple syrup making at the park.
