An old building in Shelburn is getting some much needed cleaning.
A crew from the Environmental Protection Agency has been removing hazardous materials from the old Ken Hagen Manufacturing facility at 22 East Mill Street.
It was once used for plastic moldings research, design, manufacturing and assembly. However, several substances that were used were never removed from the laboratory.
When the rooftop of the old lab began collapsing, Shelburn requested the state’s help to remove the materials.
The state then reached out to the EPA.
The clean-up is part of a larger effort to revitalize Shelburn.
