GREENE COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Eastern Greene Schools will resume normal operations Monday, August 26, after an air quality issue closed schools on Friday.
According to a release from Interim Superintendent Dr. Carrie Milner, agencies believe the issue that caused the problems was linked to the use of a laminator in an improper ventilated room. Milner says the air handler was not turned on in the middle school library, causing very little to no air movement. Several air quality tests came back negative for any harmful substances.
Two students and three staff members complained of upper respiratory problems prior to school releasing for the day Thursday. After interviews, it was determined that all five had been in the library before school let out.
For precautionary reasons, Milner says the laminator was removed.
