Dump truck crashes into power line, area loses electricity

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A dump truck hit multiple power line poles Thursday in Terre Haute causing over 100 outages to surrounding homes and buildings, Duke Energy Representative Rick Burger said.

The truck was being driven near the corner of Rio Grande Avenue and Erickson Street in North Terre Haute when the vehicle hit and knocked down two power line poles, Burger said. According to Duke Energy’s outage map, 156 customers are without power currently and according to Burger the area should not expect power to return until around 2 p.m.
