BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – A local YMCA hopes to provide meals to those in need in the community through a food drive. The organization’s efforts got a boost Wednesday from two local companies.
Duke Energy and Vectren Energy each made donations to the Clay County YMCA’s Christmas Food Drive.
Duke Energy donated $10,000 and Vectren Energy made a $4,500 donation.
The Clay County YMCA will use these funds to deliver Christmas meals to families in need, but they still need about $22,000 to make it happen.
“Every dollar counts, even if you can just give one dollar, it all adds up,” says Nicole Fry, Executive Branch Director, “whether it’s churches, organizations, individuals that want to help our efforts.”
Jennifer Isbell-Scott with Vectren Energy adds, “we are here today to challenge the other utility partners to step up and help fill that $22,000 gap that the Y has for this year’s Christmas food drive.”
The companies also volunteer and provide resources to deliver the food packages at the end of the year.
