BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – As the Wabash Valley prepares for fair season, Duke Energy is lending a helping hand.
Duke Energy Field Supervisor Scot Kellett says twenty men volunteered their time Wednesday at the Clay County Fairgrounds to fix electrical wiring, build bleachers and clean light fixtures for the fair.
He says Duke Energy tries to give back to the community through volunteer work every summer in surrounding counties, but doesn’t always get the chance.
“We get everybody involved real quick, so if we are busy in the keep-the-lights-on business and providing service for the customers, it gives these guys who are here today, the members of Clay County and the community to use their skill sets to provide back for everybody,” says Kellett.
Kellett says weather can cause a delay in volunteer work and in the summer, it can be difficult to do projects like this one.
