CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Emergency management crews were called in from Brazil, Ind. to rescue a Duke Energy crew member in a bucket truck after a Vectren gas line was punctured Monday afternoon.

Around 12:30 p.m. Monday, a Duke Energy crew setting a new pole inadvertently struck a Vectren gas line near U.S. 40 and Hwy 340 in Clay County, according to Duke Energy district manager Rick Burger. Burger explained the markings for the gas line were off.

No one was injured in the incident; however, as of 2 p.m. Monday, the road was closed to traffic as crews worked to rescue the Duke Energy crew member, repair the leak and dissipate the gas in the air.

WTWO/WAWV was on scene and will have more on this story.
