Law enforcement has a new face in the Sullivan County community of Dugger Monday night and he will be piloting a new cruiser when on patrol as well.
The Dugger Town Board approved the appointment of Joe Bohnert as the new town marshal during its last meeting.
It also approved two others to assist Bohnert in his police duties.
After the regular meeting Monday night at the community center a new patrol car was on display for the public to see.
Bohnert worked for the Indiana Department of Corrections for 11 years and had nearly completed a year on the jail staff with the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department.
Now, Bohnert has a new goal. He says, “To make our community a better community, slow the traffic down in the community, uh, where the kids will be safe on the streets again.”
Marshal Bohnert began patrolling immediately after Monday night’s meeting.
