TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– Drug Free Vigo County, the Terre Haute Police Department and volunteers gathered at the Meadows Shopping center to collect unused and expired prescriptions.
It’s done to make sure they’re disposed of safely.
These events are part of the nationwide effort to curb the number of opioid addictions and overdoses.
“Keeping the medications in our homes, it can be an overwhelming burden for a lot of people who care for loved ones and now those medications are no longer needed. They want a safe way to dispose of them. This is the best practice to bring the medications here,” said Kandace Brown, Coordinator for Drug Free Vigo County.
