Driver survives crash after being ejected, run over

Knox County – A Washington, Ind. man survived a crash after being ejected from his car and run over by another car.

According to Indiana State Police, Kayden Riggins, 21, of Washington, was driving “at a high rate of speed” on US 41 South Tuesday Morning.

When he attempted to pass a vehicle driven by Nelda Rae Eaden, 83, of Vincennes, he lost control of his car and struck a guardrail.

Riggins was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car.

Eaden was unable to avoid driving over Riggins. She ended up dragging him nearly 160 feet before stopping in the median.

Riggins was flown to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville for treatment of serious injuries.

Eaden was not injured. Riggin’s front seat passenger was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Knox County EMS and Vincennes Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.
