Doors Open to Serve

TERRE HAUTE, IN - Vigo County is one of the few areas around the state to receive licensing for opioid addiction help.

Since Western Indiana Recovery Services opened its doors, back in May, it has helped over 70 patients.

The facility can accommodate 1 thousand patients and officials expect their services to cover more.

Federal guidelines suggest those suffering from addiction need at least a year to recover.

"We've reached out to the hospital systems and the criminal justice systems to try to facilitate a referral process which is moving forward," Dr. Christian Shaw said.

Potential patients looking for help can simply call the Western Indiana Recovery Services and answer a series of questions to see if treatment is right for them.
