Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly is praising new legislation that provides billions of dollars for healthcare and medical treatment development.
The 21st Century Cures Act is unusual– in that– it had strong Bipartisan support.
Donnelly says there’s a key component of particular interest to the Hoosier state.
And that’s the funding provided to combat opioids.
“What we’re trying to do is put in place a support system, so that folks, number one don’t use opiods in the first place. But if they do, we can make sure that they’re safe and they get them off of them as quickly as possible,” said Donnelly.
The 21st Century Cures Act will likely be one of the last pieces of legislation President Obama signs before leaving office.
