A Terre Haute teen charged with reckless homicide in the death of 17-year-old Garret Sands was back in court Friday morning.
Nathan Derickson was booked into Vigo County Jail Thursday.
Derickson is out on bond.
This is the second time Derickson has allegedly violated his court release.
Court documents say he failed to call a urine analysis hotline to see if he needed to take a drug screening.
His attorney told the judge his dad normally wakes him up at 6 a.m. but had another matter to attend to and did not wake him up on the day in question.
The judge upped Derickson’s bond from 25 thousand to 50 thousand dollars cash.
And told him another violation would mean no bond and he’d remain behind bars until his trial.
You may recall Derickson faces charges in the shooting of sands back in March.
He pleaded not guilty to those charges and claims the shooting was an accident.
His trial date for the shooting is scheduled for January 29th.
