TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A group of protesters gathered at the Vigo County Courthouse Saturday to rally against a potential war with Iran.
The ‘No War with Iran’ protest was part of a day of international anti-war demonstrations across the world.
A similar protest was held at the Vigo County Courthouse earlier this month.
The protest featured speakers from Indiana State University and and Rose-Hulman with backgrounds in the history of Iran.
One of the speakers Samuel Martland said having the opportunity to protest can hopefully lead to constructive conversations on controversial issues.
“Everyone who comes out and protests on any side, lets other people who agree with them know that they’re not alone. And it lets them know that maybe in two weeks they can come down to the same place and meet somebody to talk to,” Martland said.
The demonstrations in Vigo county were organized by Wabash Valley
Solidarity, Wabash Valley Indivisible and SAC of first Unitarian Universalist Congregation.
