TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Deming Park celebrated a major milestone Saturday afternoon as the Terre Haute park is now officially 100 years old.
Community members and Terre Haute’s Parks and Recreation employees celebrated the milestone June 5 with a day of events in the park. Attendees were able to play games, view a car show, eat food and ride trains.
Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett said he and his family hold the park close to their hearts.
“I’m excited to be here today,” Bennett said. “My mom and dad brought me here and of course I brought my kids, and now my grand-kids are coming to Deming Park. Every time we come out here I just think, what a jewel, what a great place that we have here in Terre Haute.”
