A former city worker is sentenced to 15 years for the production of child pornography.
United States Attorney Josh J. Minkler announced Monday that David Roberts, 50, of Terre Haute, has been sentenced.
A U.S. District Judge sentenced him to 15 years in federal prison.
Roberts was an administrative assistant to former Terre Haute Mayor Jim Jenkins. In the past, Roberts also ran for Terre Haute City Council.
“Protecting our most vulnerable citizens from sexual predators has been and will remain a top priority of this office,” said Minkler. “If you abuse children in the Southern District of Indiana, you can expect the full wrath of federal prosecution.”
Roberts was convicted of placing hidden cameras in the bedrooms and bathrooms of a home he shared with two minor female victims.
One of the victims told her mother, who then notified the Terre Haute Police Department.
The investigation led law enforcement to discover more than 23,000 images and videos of pornography.
Law enforcement also discovered Roberts had also recorded five other female victims who had visited the home.
The FBI and the Terre Haute Police Department investigated this case.
According to Assistant United States Attorney Tiffany J. Preston who prosecuted this case for the government, Roberts must serve five years of supervised release following his term of imprisonment.
