Dana, Indiana’s post office to be renamed after journalist Ernest Pyle

DANA, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) – Indiana senators Todd Young and Mike Braun are introducing legislation to rename the post office in the town of Dana.

If allowed, Dana’s post office would be named after Ernie Pyle. The Pulitzer prize winning war correspondent was born near the city and is celebrated for his hands-on approach to covering the second world war.

Senator Mike Braun said of the renaming. “Ernie Pyle is an american hero who gave his life in World War II, and it’s only fitting to name the post office in Dana, Indiana after him,”

Pyle was killed while reporting on the Army’s 305th regiment and received a posthumous Merit Medal and Purple Heart.
