Crews were kept busy this afternoon as heavy rain contributed to several accidents on I-70 that affected traffic.

There were two crashes on I-70 near the 15-mile marker, near the Clay-Vigo County line. The first one happened in the eastbound lanes as a vehicle went off the road after losing control and crashed into some trees.

The driver was transported to Regional Hospital and treated for injuries.

Moments later, there was another crash in the westbound lanes when two semi trucks and a passenger vehicle ran into each other after traffic slowed due to heavy rain.

It is unclear at this time if anyone was hurt, in that crash.

The agencies that assisting in responding to the crashes included the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department, Riley Fire Department, and the Indiana State Police.
