SULLIVAN Co., Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A man is in jail after police said he caused a two-vehicle crash in Farmersburg Sunday afternoon.
It happened on U.S. 41 North near County Road 1100 around 4:22 p.m.
Police said Timothy Stone of Sullivan was driving at a high rate of speed when he was slowed by two vehicles driving side by side in the same direction.
They said he then tried to drive between the two vehicles, hitting one vehicle in the driving lane.
Stone’s vehicle forced the second vehicle off the road, causing it to flip into a parking lot and landing on its roof.
Police said Stone’s vehicle flipped into a grassy median, rolled over onto its top and caught fire.
According to police, Stone showed signs of impairment and was found to be under the influence of marijuana and amphetamines.
He was taken to the Sullivan County on multiple charges including reckless driving and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He is being held without bond.
The other driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
According to Indiana State Police, say if you see reckless driving around you don’t be afraid to report it.
