COVID-19 in Indiana: Over 3,000 newly confirmed cases


INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health on Thursday reported 3,186 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 794,077.

To date, 13,686 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of nine from the previous day. Another 430 probable deaths have been reported to date based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.  

A total of 3,731,553 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, 3,723,245 on Wednesday. A total of 11,525,434 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Hoosiers ages 12 and up can receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Those younger than age 18 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine only.

As of Friday, a total of 6,006,441 doses have been administered in Indiana. This includes 3,009,691 first doses and 2,996,750 people who are fully vaccinated. The fully vaccinated number represents individuals who have received a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and those who received the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
