COVID-19 in Indiana: New death reported in Vigo County


INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health Tuesday reported 652 additional confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the state total to 112,626.

A total of 3,295 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of nine from the previous day. One new death was reported in Vigo County for a total of 23 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

Another 225 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by the state and occurred over multiple days.           

The US death toll topped 200,000 Tuesday, according to the latest data provided by Johns Hopkins University.

To date, 1,315,440 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 1,308,645 on Monday. A total of 1,898,563 tests, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26.

The Regenstrief Institute estimates 84.3 percent of Hoosiers who tested positive for the coronavirus have recovered.
