Mystery continues to surround a death in Clark County. Detectives have linked two suspects to their investigation.
Eric Wycoff and Karla Kelly made a second court appearance today, this follows last week’s discovery of the body of 57 year Dennis Bates.
Both 45 year old Eric Wycoff of Marshall, Illinois and 44 year old Karla Kelly of Paris have a long list of felony arrests trailing behind their names. The list includes illegal drug possession, driving with a suspended license and theft.
The two might experience a more permanent punishment following their most recent trouble with the law. Before today’s appearance both were in Clark County court on Friday being charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and concealment of a homicidal death.
They’re currently in the Clark County jail with bond set at $500,000 with 10%. Published reports connect their charges to last week’s disappearance of 57 year old Dennis Bates and his 1993 dark green Chevrolet truck.
Bates is from Tolono, Illinois. His body was found in Clark County on Thursday.
Monday’s court appearance identified Karla Kelly’s attorney in the case as William McGrath who is currently representing her in pending cases in both Clark and Edgar County. Attorney Paul Wieck was appointed to represent Eric Wycoff.
The coroner has not released the official cause of death for Dennis Bates.
Concealment of a homicidal deaths means that a person knowingly conceals the death of another person with knowledge that they have died by homicidal means.
Nothing prevents the suspect from also being charged with first or second degree murder or manslaughter.
They’ve both got preliminary hearings on June 1st at 9 a.m.
