Cops Spread Holiday Cheer To Kids

For the 27th consecutive year, more than 100 area law enforcement officers, medical teams, EMTs, firefighters and more joined forces to put smiles on the faces of about 200 kids in the Washington area.

The “Cops and Kids” event allowed for some holiday shopping, it then finished with lunch at the Moose Lodge.

During the lunch, the kids got to see Sparky, the fire prevention pup, the Grinch and more.

“Donations and a lot of community members have, you know, donated to this cause and it definitely, [the] outpour for the community for these children, for this day, is always overwhelming and it makes it a great day for everybody,” says Brandon Humphries, Sergeant at Washington Police Department.

The “Cops and Kids” program has grown since it began in 1991. Just last year, more than 25,000 dollars were donated to the program making 194 children very happy during the holiday season.
