TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)– The foundation of the new Terre Haute Convention Center and parking garage will be laid in early September, according to the Terre Haute Capital Improvement Board.
The city’s Community Investment Board recently hired an architect that will design the Larry Bird Museum. It will be located inside the convention center.
Jon Marvel, president of the Capital Improvement Board, said the board is excited about the progress that’s been made.
“There were so many different pieces of land that we had to acquire in that block and then we’re going to enclose 8th street. It’s coming to the stage now where everyone is really excited about it.”
Construction will continue through 20-21 and the convention center will officially open in March 2022.
