An active and beloved member of the Terre Haute community passed away on the morning of November 18th after a long fight with cancer.
Bill Kauffman was surrounded by friends and family, and will be remembered fondly by those he’s touched in the community.
“He knew how to deal with the human aspect. He knew how to deal with each and every person he met, he never met a stranger. He was so personable,” said friend Bob Rhodes.
Kauffman has been described by family friends as a liaison to the community, never quite belonging to just one organization.
Kauffman was a member of the Breakfast Optimist Club, the Terre Haute Corvette Club and much more.
He enjoyed duck hunting with friends and anything that had to do with racing fast cars.
“Bill had a strong impact on the community. He was involved in so many organizations, but he was always the person in the background. He was always the person that was putting the events together, supporting events. He was more like a community liaison,” said Rhodes.
Funeral arrangements for Bill Kauffman are pending, however a celebration of life will take place sometime in early January.
