We honor our veterans in many ways, but sometimes the celebration doesn’t have to be as big as a parade.
The veterans here at Highland Lawn cemetery in Terre Haute now rest in peace and still their community works to give back.
Terre Haute Masonic Lodge 19 coordinated today to clean the grave sites of many veterans buried at the cemetery.
“A lot of these veterans no longer have any living family, so being able to come back out here and take care of the stones preserving their legacy for the community is an important aspect that the entire community at large can share,” Matthew Lowe with the lodge said.
Several community members came out to the cemetery to help including members of 3 Masonic lodges in Terre Haute and other veterans in the community.
